“STOP ALL THAT NOISE!” screams Carrie E. Stroud Thompson, the mother of
JC Thompson, trying to make herself heard over the singing & piano “banging” of JC…who knew that noise would turn into beautiful music?
JC Thompson began singing at the age of 4 and became the lead singer in the family music group, “The Cherubs” , originated & managed by his grandmother the late Rina- Belle Crutchfield, a renowned gospel music promoter in the south during the 1940’s, 50’s & 60’s.
“The Cherubs” performed successfully throughout the east coast & disbanded as the other siblings interest in music departed, all except JC.
Though JC has been musical virtually all of his life, he never composed any music. It wasn’t until 2006 that he wrote his first song entitled “Friend!”, featured on his debut album “Born to Praise”. JC attributes his writing to his father, the late William H. Thompson, Sr. JC knows his song writing is a gift his father left behind for him before making his transition. JC cared for his father daily during his illness & drove 2 ½ hours daily to visit him. It was on those long drives that JC had a little talk with God & it was revealed that “something” was to come to comfort not only JC during his sorrow but to help love & heal the world. JC played his first song for his father before his passing with earphones & a cd player.
His Father was unable to speak, walk or eat due to multiple strokes, but was able to deliver a single tear down his face as he listened to the song. It was at that moment JC knew his song writing was a gift from God delivered by his father.
JC’s song writing style is strong, unique & majestic, from simplistic to symphonic – his power love-ballads have earned him the title of “The Diane Warner/David Foster of Gospel” by many, “For a sure fire gospel love song, see JC”…
